In recent decades the global economy has changed from a model focused on the production of goods and products, to one that is service-based. Innovation management has been centred on creating new services and experiences that link consumers to the products and services offered by companies. This new context has given rise to a new need: the design of services. Service Design is a new multidisciplinary practice, and includes the management of all areas of expertise involved in the creation of innovative services and new experiences, with the objective being that they are useful, efficient, effective, and desirable for the client, and at the same time differentiate the service provider from their competitors.
Objectives
The course aims to equip participants with the conceptual and technical tools for designing and managing innovative quality services, enabling professionals from different sectors to handle the multiple disciplines involved in industry-specific processes. The knowledge acquired during the Master can be applied in several areas, such as healthcare, utilities, hospitality and tourism, business and financial services, and many others.
Through workshops given by well-renowned professionals, lectures and case study analysis, undertaking joint projects with companies, and in the context of an active environment for analysis and discussion, the specific content of the programme is dealt with in a participatory manner. Observing and identifying consumer needs and their future behaviour, in order to apply them to the development of potential services, as well as the ability to redesign existing services and plan new communication channels, are just some of the big challenges in this new area, and therefore it is essential to have professionals trained in these specific skills.
