IED launches a new Media Library. It is located in the old Auditorium, a space of 145 m2, with new facilities and furniture ready for the new course.

We have expanded the number of computers and the number of tables devoted to consultation and study.
 Other changes are the addition of two spaces that will improve your work and search:

- Newspaper Archive: Where you can find old magazines of various topics.
- Material Library: Where you can find some of the most important basic materials in the work of a designer.

You will have a unique computer to query our catalog, which already has more than 3,400 titles and we will have soon a new DVD viewing room.

Remember that you have a printing and scanner service for your works.

Opening hours: 9am to 9pm.

You can now apply for one of the scholarships offered by the Master department at IED Barcelona.

If you are interested in participating in any of our specialisation, postgraduate or master courses you can now apply to obtain the assistants position and recieve a scholarship.

The Grameen Creative Lab (GCL), hub of the social business movement with the mission to eliminate poverty, and Istituto Europeo di Design, the international education group in design, fashion, visual arts and communication has announced a social business initiative to develop sustainable design. 

The two leading organizations will combine their strengths to form a unique project, ‘Y7Y Design', aimed at making social business excellent through adequate and future oriented design solutions.

IED students from the campuses in Italy, Spain and Brazil will put their passion, enthusiasm and motivation into developing projects which will demonstrate that it is possible to innovate and generate new products and services on a multinational scale under the constraints of sustainability and social responsibility.

Second year Media Design students from the Istituto Europeo di Design  Barcelona are developing in collaboration with “El cosmonauta” a new application for iPhone with a strong space aesthetic  in reference to the film.

”El Cosmonauta” is a science fiction film produced by everyone interested from only 2 euros.It is Creative Commons ,so it can be edited, copied, remixed and shared as you want. 


The application, a video game, should primarily have a narrative consistent with the script of the film with shots ideas, colours, textures, plot, fonts, explosions and movements that use iPhone applications. 
The application is free in its the first part and will have a payment extension 
with several levels of difficulty and different worlds

The game's official presentation will take place during the month of October 
2010.

CETT Group (UB) and Istituto Europeo di Design has signed a collaboration agreement for the course on Food Event Design

• "Food Event Design" is a training program aimed at professionals from the organization of events and catering
• The course takes place in the school's Advanced Training IED Barcelona
• Col • legi Major Agora BCN provide preferential treatment  to IED Barcelona.

The College of Tourism CETT, attached to the University of Barcelona and the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, has established a collaboration agreement for the purpose of developing a joint training program aimed at professionals in organizing events and acts where food, meals or gourmet products are the protagonists.

Both institutions have invested the most of their experience and marked the particularity of their specialties, develop and deliver an educational program aimed at professionals from the organization of events and of restoration that will be entitled: "Food Event Design.

The metodolghy  course of 120 hours, beginning on 23 February in the IED, including concept theory, types of events, history of culinary art, reference search, culture, practical exercises, to tastings and master classes with the gourmets chefs and reference. The course ends  organizing an event for a company.

This agreement shows that arts such as design and cuisine, join forces to make way for new trends and turn the social events in a unique multi-sensory experience through the application of creativity in the catering.

VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP "IScream"

Luis Iglesias, former Fashion Design student parade on Sunday July 11 with the series "Marine Currents."

This is a collection of nostalgic, intimate, based on the experiences of his fishing village. The blue, gray and green evoke a rainy day in the Galician coast. Asymmetries in spiral layers and cuts simulate marine currents and eddies.

In the same place, we will see the 2009/10 Fashion thesis of Joan Taltavull, Marina Vasquez, Alba Natalie Grace and the Perche.

From the IED we give them all our support and wish you all good luck!
